Two towns will feature in the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya’s route for the first time in its 104 editions of history. The first of them—along with the start of the fifth stage from Paüls—will be Sant Vicenç de Castellet. The municipality, the largest in South Bages in number of inhabitants, will be the protagonist of the start of the fourth stage of the Volta in 2025, a particularly special edition due to its finish at the iconic Montserrat mountain in the year of its millennium celebration. A town with a privileged location between two natural parks ideal for cycling practice: Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac and the Natural Park of Montserrat mountain.

Sant Vicenç de Castellet, located in the south of Bages, is a strategic point between Bages, Vallès, and Baix Llobregat, near the confluence of the Llobregat and Cardener rivers. Surrounded by the natural parks of Montserrat and Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac, it forms part of the UNESCO World GeoPark of Central Catalonia, a territory recognized for its geological, natural, and cultural heritage.
The municipality is notable for sites such as the 13th century monumental complex of Castellet, the Romanesque hermitage of Sant Pere de Vallhonesta (11th century) and the remains of the medieval inn of Sant Jaume de Vallhonesta, a key site on the royal road between Manresa and Barcelona. At the second Easter, you can enjoy the Gitanes Dance (a festival declared of Local Interest) which brings together more than 400 dancers, and at the beginning of June, the Steam Fair, where daily life is recreated between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, a time of social and industrial growth in the municipality.
