The ski resort of La Molina has been part of the Volta route since 2014, when it hosted a stage finish for the first time that was won by the Catalan local star Joaquim ‘Purito’ Rodríguez. Since then, La Molina has been the stage finish of the men's race of the Volta on eight occasions, in which it has seen the victories of other important names such as Alejandro Valverde on two occasions (2017 and 2018), Tejay Van Garderen (2015), Dan Martin (2016), Miguel Ángel López (2019), Ben O'Connor (2022) and Remco Evenepoel (2023), who was the last winner as reigning world champion. The 2024 season, La Molina also became the first stage finish of the women's race, the first altitude finish in its history, certifying a triumph for the record books of an icon such as Marianne Vos.

La Molina ski resort, with a skiable area of 71 kilometres, is the oldest ski resort in Catalonia, open since 1943. It is also known for being the first Spanish resort to install a tele-ski, a chairlift, a gondola lift, a four-seater chairlift and a ski school.

The resort, located in the Cerdanya region, with a minimum altitude of 1,667 metres and a maximum altitude of 2,537 metres, combines family activities with the highest level of sports competition.

In addition, for cycling enthusiasts, La Molina has a renovated Bikepark for cycling activities, especially during the summer. With 12 downhill circuits for riders of all levels, a Cross Country circuit and Wood Park, the La Molina bike park is a benchmark at the downhill, enduro and MTB world.
