The telecommunications company enters 2024 as one of the main sponsors of the race
The best young cyclist in the general classification of the next edition of the Volta will once again have the support of Vera as the main sponsor of the classification. For the second consecutive year, the Catalan company has trusted in the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, this is a commitment that extends over the next three years and demonstrates its long-term commitment to the Catalan round. Vera will reward the best cyclist under 23 years old participating in the race, who will be differentiated from the peloton thanks to the distinctive jersey that will characterize him as the best young rider of the general classification of the race.
21.02.2024- The Catalan telecommunications company has renewed its commitment to the Volta for the 2025 edition, where it will continue to be the main sponsor of the jersey that will distinguish the best classified cyclist aged 23 or under. A jersey characterised by its white background with orange stripes, which we will see throughout the week of the Volta, which will compete in its seven stages between 24 and 30 March.
The world cycling elite is increasingly made up of younger cyclists. So much so, that in the case of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya we have seen that on two occasions, the best young rider classified has also been the winner of the race. They have been the Colombians Sergio Higuita, in 2022 and Miguel Ángel López, in 2019. In 2023, double Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel took this classification at the age of 23 and a well-deserved second place, just behind the already confirmed for the Volta 2025, Slovenian Primoz Roglic.
Internationally renowned cyclists such as Portuguese Joao Almeida in 2021 or Catalan Marc Soler in 2017 have also won the best young rider award. Last March, this award went to one of the most promising riders of the moment, the French rider Lenny Martinez, who at only 20 years of age took the lead in the classification. Founded in 2023, Vera is a 100% Catalan telecommunications operator that offers fibre optic, telephony, green energy and business services.
The company can boast of having achieved a great expansion around the Catalan territory in a short time and then become one of the companies with more projection within the sector today. With a customer-focused approach, Vera is committed to a personalised, close and transparent service, standing out as a reliable alternative for those who value good service, excellent attention and a link with the territory, where Vera allocates part of its income to promote different events with a territorial impact.
Marc Mundó, Vera's CEO, is pleased to renew the agreement with a unique event such as the Volta Ciclista.
"For us, the Volta is a fantastic event, as we see it as a showcase for the territory. For a week, we cross the country from north to south, and that's incredible. Since the end of 2024 we can now offer our services in any corner of Catalonia, and there is no better place than the Volta Catalunya to explain it."
For his part, Rubèn Peris, president of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya has celebrated the renewal of the agreement, which symbolizes the good relationship between both parties, and the great commitment of the company with the Catalan UCI World Tour race; ‘Vera is a clear example of a national company that bets on talent and future projection in events in our territory. With its commitment to dress the best young rider of the race, they show their commitment to the young talents who will be, without any doubt, the protagonists of elite cycling in the coming years. A renewal that does not satisfy, as the values shared by the company with the philosophy of effort, work and sacrifice, are fully in line with the philosophy of the Volta’.
The 104th edition of the Volta a Catalunya has already defined the route of an edition that will feature a line-up of world stars headed by Jonas Vingegaard (double winner of the Tour de France) or Primoz Roglic (four-time winner of the Vuelta), among others. A route that will be made official in the coming weeks and that will connect Catalonia through seven stages where the mountains, with three mountain finishes, will be one of the main protagonists of the next edition.
