One of the most characteristic features of the neighborhoods of the Catalan capital is the revitalization of the network of municipal markets that fill the neighborhoods of Barcelona. A treasure that the city can boast of and which promotes a healthy life, thanks to local food products, which favor a healthy and balanced diet and which, in addition, have been able to adapt to the needs of the population of the 21st century, adapting and revitalizing its premises of great architectural value, with diverse cultural activities.
Eduard Escofet, president of the Federation of Municipal Markets of Barcelona, comments that; "On behalf of our Federation and on behalf of the 38 markets it represents, we are very proud to sponsor the Women's Cycle Tour in Catalonia in this second edition and to collaborate with the more than centenary Volta a Catalunya, a world-class cycling event that represents effort, perseverance and teamwork, values that we share in the markets. The Mercats de Barcelona, which are synonymous with food with fresh, healthy and quality products, want to be together with the athletes of our city. We believe in the importance of sport as an engine of social and economic dynamism, and with this collaboration with a symbol like the Volta, we reaffirm our commitment to Barcelona and its neighbors.”
Rubén Peris, general director of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, highlighted the good existing harmony with Mercats de Barcelona, which in 2025 also wanted to be linked with the men's event; "The relationship between the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and the FEMM has always been excellent. A relationship that last year took a step forward by sponsoring the team classification of the women's race, which this year not only wanted to renew, but will also be involved in the 104th edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. The link between the Volta and Mercats de Barcelona is a combination that promotes a healthy lifestyle, which makes us feel very comfortable and which we hope will continue over time."
