Viladecans The Style Outlets will host the start of one of the seven stages of the race
Barcelona 13-12- After its recent participation as the finishing venue for one of the stages of the last edition of the Volta, the city of Baix Llobregat will repeat the experience and will host, in this case, a stage start. The Viladecans The Style Outlets centre will receive the spectacular convoy of a UCI World Tour race such as the Volta and will capture all the world sporting limelight, with the arrival of the best teams in the world at its facilities.
The city of Viladecans debuted a few months ago as an unprecedented venue for the Volta, with Viladecans The Style Outlets as the arrival point of the historic Catalan race, bringing together a large public of the city, as well as the highest authorities of our territory, in a stage that joined the town of Altafulla (Tarragona) with Viladecans.
A route that connected the Costa Daurada with the Baix Llobregat, which kept the excitement up to the end as it was a very fast stage, where the fight for the breakaway was the order of the day. Finally, after 167 km and the passage of two mountain passes, the young rider Axel Laurance (Deceuninck-Alpecin), U23 world champion, took the stage victory in a final sprint on the Avenida de la Generalitat, which offered a great atmosphere with a public and a city that was overturned with the Volta.
Located in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, the city of Viladecans has 67,000 inhabitants and a privileged geographical location, which allows its citizens an unbeatable balance between the urban and natural environment. From the Llobregat Delta and its beaches to the Massís del Garraf mountain, which offers its inhabitants a multitude of outdoor activities. There are also numerous agricultural lands and protected natural spaces that invite citizens to enjoy the nature of the city and its green lungs. Viladecans maintains the essence of 50 years ago, protecting the spirit of the village, while at the same time it has been able to evolve and develop an enterprising commercial character.
Viladecans The Style Outlets will become the impressive starting village for one of the stages of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya 2025. This centre, with more than 20,000 square metres and capacity for more than 100 shops, will host one of the best cycling events in the world next March. In this way, Viladecans The Style Outlets will bring together the impressive logistics that accompany the event, such as the buses and vehicles of the best teams in the world and the staff and volunteers of the event, who amount to more than 700 people who make the organisation of an event of this size possible.
Among the different activities that can be seen before the start of the stage are the Signature Control, where we will be able to see the riders of each of the 25 participating teams parade, as well as the neutralised start of the stage.
The mayoress of Viladecans, Olga Morales, positively highlights the return of the Volta to the town, one year later; ‘In Viladecans we really enjoyed the last Volta Catalunya and we are excited to repeat the experience. We are a town with a long sporting tradition and in the coming years we want to become a place of reference for major events such as the Volta Catalunya’.
Eduardo Ceballos, Asset Management Director of NEINVER, the management company of Viladecans The Style Outlets, said: ‘It is an honour to once again be part of such an important event as the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. This collaboration not only raises the profile of our centre and the town of Viladecans, but also reflects the values that we defend as a company. We are committed to initiatives that promote the wellbeing of our community and reinforce our centres as dynamic spaces committed to activities that promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle’.
Finally, Rubèn Peris, general director of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya showed his satisfaction for having Viladecans as one of the venues of the next edition of the Volta; ‘The relationship we have had with Viladecans in recent years has been magnificent, their interest in the race and the facilities they have given us makes us feel very satisfied to return one year later to the city of Baix Llobregat. I have no doubt that we will experience a great cycling spectacle, and that Viladecans The Style Outlets could not be a better starting point to host the spectacular infrastructure that moves a UCI World Tour event of these dimensions’.
With the announcement of Viladecans The Style Outlets as the starting point of one of the seven stages of the next edition of the Volta, the race reveals all the starting and finishing points of the next edition. Soon we will know how the different points that will form the puzzle of the third oldest stage race in the world will be joined.
