The Alpecin Fenix will not take part in the #VoltaCatalunya100 due to the isolation of its staff due to Covid cases

The Alpecin Fenix team, in accordance with the organization of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, has made the decision to not participate in the 100th edition of the race to accomplish with the protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The organiser and team have informed the UCI of the situation prior to taking the decision.  

3 members of the staff have tested positive for Covid-19. In order to prevent the risk of spreading the virus, it has been decided to isolate all the staff of the team that was supposed to attend the Volta to put them in quarantine.  

Given that, it is impossible for the team to replace an entire staff for the Volta. Finally, and in accordance with the organizers, the Belgian team will not be present at the centenary Volta.  

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya wishes a quick recovery to the positive staff members, and, and wishes to see the team in the 101st edition of the race in 2022.
