La Pobla de Segur will have a stage start in Volta 101

La Pobla de Segur (13-10-2021).- After being a start stage of the hundredth edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, La Pobla de Segur will once again have a start stage in the 101 edition, after the agreement reached between the organization and the city hall.
The next edition of the Volta will be held from 21 to 27 March 2022. It will be the fourth time that La Pobla de Segur will see a start stage of the Catalan race, after the last in 1979, 2018 y 2021. In 2018 the start had to be made unexpectedly due to bad weather conditions which prevented the race start in Vielha as previously planned.
The last time was in the last edition, where La Pobla de Segur was the great start of the fifth stage, with finish in Manresa and won by the German rider of the Bora-Hansgrohe Lennard Kämna.
The German Maximilian Schachmann in 2018, and the Spanish Ricardo Zúñiga, in 1979, also raised their arms starting from La Pobla de Segur, with finishes in Torrefarrera and Coll de Pal in Bagà, respectively.
“It’s a pleasure for La Pobla de Segur to experience one more year a stage starts of the Volta a Catalunya, which help to visualize and promote our territory. We hope that this year all the children of La Pobla could enjoy the start since last year they couldn’t do it. La Pobla have a big number of cycling fans that feel the start stage as a celebration day, seeing the best riders of the world close them”, says the Mayor of la Pobla de Segur, Marc Baró.
“The fact of repeat the start of la Volta from la Pobla de Segur confirms that both parties are very satisfied with the result of the previous edition. We are very comfortable in this town and we are happy that its citizens can once again have the best riders at home” said the President of Volta, Rubèn Peris.
The 101 edition of the Volta will meet again all the best cycling teams of the world, which will try to succeed in the list of winners the British of the INEOS Grenadiers Adam Yates, last winner of the race. With a spectacular media coverage, that in the last edition arrived at 190 countries and had an audience of 15,7 million of spectators by Eurosport, the Volta is a window to the world for all the cities involved as well as a start or finish stage.
