Sant Cugat del Vallès, 05-05-2020.- La The second edition of the reVolta, the women's race of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, is postponed until 2021 due to the effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The impossibility of organise the race with the desired conditions on the scheduled date (July 12th, 2020) has led to the postponement of the race, in a decision agreed with the City Council of Sant Cugat. This village will remain the scenario for the depart and the finish of the race in 2021.
"We have followed the same criteria as with the Volta when we decided to postpone the race until next year. We want to celebrate the reVolta with the maximum guarantees and with the best conditions", commented the general director of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, Rubèn Peris.
"The City Council of Sant Cugat", remarked the Councilor for Sports, Gemma Aristoy, "reaffirms its commitment to reVolta and women's cycling. That is why we maintain the agreement for next year. We want our municipality be the place of reference for the next edition of the race in 2021".
"We must thank the commitment to women's cycling at this moment. We will continue working together so that Sant Cugat can enjoy a first-class cycling competition," said Rubèn Peris.
The exact date of the second edition of the reVolta will be specified in the coming months depending on how the cycling calendar will be set for 2021. The aim is to find the date that allows for the outstanding participation of national and international teams. The objective is to design an attractive route for cyclists and the public.
The reVolta experienced its first edition in 2018, coinciding with the last stage of the 98th edition of the Volta, with a route for the Montjuïc mountain in Barcelona. The race was a success of participation and public assistance and we will work to repeat it next year in Sant Cugat.
