La Volta defines the six ProTeam invited for the 100th edition

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya has already defined the six ProTeam invited to participate in the 100th edition of the race, which will be held from March 22 to 28, 2021. These are the teams: Alpecin-Fenix (Belgium), Rally Cycling (USA), Gazprom-RusVelo (Russia), Arkea-Samsic (France), Kern Pharma and Fundación Euskadi.
The 19 teams that form the highest category, the UCI WorldTeam, will complete the bunch that will bring the best riders in the world on Catalan roads The six ProTeam teams present in the 100th edition of the Volta have good arguments to add competitiveness to an edition as special for the race.
In their roosters are such outstanding riders as Nairo Quintana, winner of the Volta 2016 and now one of the leaders of Arkea Samsic.
Also stand out the riders of Gazprom-RusVelo, starting with Ilnur Zakarin, who has a remarkable career, with stage victories in the Tour de France (2016), the Giro d'Italia (2015 and 2019) and a podium in the Vuelta’s overall (third in 2017). The Russian team also has the Czech Roman Kreuziger, with victories in Tour of Switzerland (2008), Tour of Romandy (2009) and Amstel Gold Race (2013).
Kern Pharma has an important representation of catalan riders in its team. One of them is Roger Adrià.
Rally Cycling also has a special relationship with Catalonia, as it has its European base in Girona. Ben King, who won two stages in the Vuelta 2018, is the star signing of the team for this 2021.
Fundación Euskadi also has a place for the 100th edition of the Volta. This team recovers the great tradition of Basque cycling.
Finally, Alpecin Fenix will have the opportunity to compete in the Volta for its status as the best UCI ProTeam in 2020. With the definition of all the teams that will compete in the Volta this year, the race moves towards the celebration of an edition as historic as the 100.
