The Meteorological Service of Catalonia becomes an official collaborator of the Catalan race and will provide meteorological advice to the organization of the race.

The director of the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC), Oriol Puig and the general director of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, Rubèn Peris, have signed a collaboration agreement by which the SMC becomes an official collaborator in the field of meteorology.

The "Volta" is part of the UCI World Tour calendar, which includes the best events in the world, and is held annually during the last week of March. In 2019 it will celebrate its 99th edition from March 25 to 31.

The dates of the race are ideal for the best cyclists in the world to measure their strength at the start of the cycling season on the Catalan roads, as shown by the excellent participation of the race in recent years, with names like Alejandro Valverde, Nairo Quintana or Chris Froome, among many others. Despite this, at the end of March, the weather can affect the route planned by the organization.

Therefore, in order to have the best possible information, the SMC will send reports with the approximate daily forecast of the temperature, the state of the sky and the probability of precipitation in the municipalities where the stages of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya take place.
